This past weekend, February 22-24, the eighth annual GiveCamp Memphis event was held at the Fedex Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis. “GiveCamp is a weekend-long event where technology professionals from designers, developers and database administrators to marketers and web strategists donate their time to provide solutions to non-profit organizations.”

This year was PERL’s third time at GiveCamp. Over the last few years, GiveCamp has provided us with technology services that we would never be able to afford otherwise. We first attended GiveCamp in 2016 when PERL had just formed. That year, GiveCamp helped us with things all new organizations need, including building our website and designing our logo. As PERL’s work in the community evolved, we identified new needs surrounding criminal justice data analysis. So in 2018 and 2019, GiveCamp built us a custom program enabling us to track and analyze data from numerous sources in the criminal justice system locally and nationwide. Most importantly, GiveCamp makes sure that charity representatives know how to use their new technology, empowering them to more effectively pursue their missions.

GiveCamp is looking for volunteers, both technical and non-technical. The event is a great opportunity use your creative talents, develop new friendships, and do transformative work in the community. Thanks to the sponsors who made GiveCamp 2019 possible.
