Kelvin Stokes

July 2000

A woman reported to Memphis police that Stokes and another man raped her in her house on Wooddale in Parkway Village.  The victim said that after the attack, Stokes ripped the phone out of the wall and told her he would kill her if she called the police or told anyone.

After reporting, the victim went to the Rape Crisis Center for a forensic examination of her body.  Evidence collected was placed in a rape kit.

October 2013

Memphis police sent the victim’s rape kit to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) for DNA testing.  TBI made a match to Stokes in February 2015.  Stokes was indicted one day before the 15-year statute of limitations expired.
